pro tips
estimates
If you’re looking for a quality mover be sure that your estimates are thorough and accurately reflect the entire moving process, with no surprises coming your way at the end of the move.
If you end up comparing apples to oranges, you may inadvertently choose a lower calibre mover based on their estimate, only to have a bad experience… and a bigger bill than expected!
preparedness
The more organized and packed you are, the smoother (and faster) your move will be. Our estimates assume you will be ready for our crew when they arrive. Having to ‘work around you’ will reduce the efficiently of our efforts and could add hours of time to your estimate.
You may want to start packing several weeks in advance of your move date, and tackle small amounts at a time so that the process isn’t too overwhelming.
Or… have us take care of everything for you with our packing service and enjoy a stress free move… imagine that!
Box, don’t bag!
Good sturdy boxes allow us to efficiently stack your belongings in our truck from floor to ceiling. Bags… no so much. A few bags are OK, but the majority of your belongings should be boxed to allow for an efficient move.
Parking
Having parking close to the entrance of your building will save a lot of time. Our trucks are 13’ and require 40’ of length to accommodate our ramp. Street parking can be reserved through your local municipality by calling 311.
Elevator time
They say less is more… not when it comes to elevator time and moving! Not having an elevator booked and locked and having to compete with other elevator users can significantly slow down a move. To ensure a smooth move, book your elevator for as long as your building manager will allow. Too much time is better than not enough!
Liquids
Most moving companies will not move alcohol or cleaning supplies due to the risk of spillage in the truck. At Abba Moving, we have installed under box storage to enable you to include your liquids in the move.
All liquids must be packed separate and clearly labelled to ensure they end up where they should.
Marble
Because marble is so heavy, and has natural cracks, it can break under it’s own weight. If you want us to move a marble slab, it will first have to be crated by a professional crating company.
5 Star Service!
When considering any moving company, be sure to check their Google Reviews. You want to be sure you’re in good hands, that your belongings are well taken care of, and that the overall experience is a positive one!!!
